Umar Sultan

Recruiter
FSA Corporate Headquarters
Ashburn, VA

I began my career at FSA in 2016 as a Junior Recruiter on a temporary basis. My commitment towards my work and continuous appreciation from FSA enabled me to transition from a temp role to a full-time position within one month of my start date. I now manage the full recruitment cycle for requisitions, from developing a pool of qualified candidates to setting start dates. In 2019, I extended 130 offers.

What intrigued me about FSA was its commitment to support the U.S. Department of Justice. I know I am part of a greater mission to support the safety and security of our nations’ citizens. I appreciate my team’s trust in my abilities and frequent recognition from management.

There is always a new challenge around the corner. To prepare for a large contract start, I helped process employment eligibility verification for more than 400 employees in one week.

Apart from talent acquisition, I facilitated a smooth transition from manual to online benefits administration by creating and maintaining custom reports for successful automated delivery. For the Human Capital Management team, I created several automated reports to limit manual data entry and increase data accuracy.

Another growth opportunity I’ve enjoyed has been the chance to do HR information system analysis to streamline HR processes and ensure compliance with internal and external controls.

One of my favorite parts of my job is offering a position to the best candidate. It’s rewarding on three levels: meeting my objective, helping someone else reach their own career goals, and helping government agencies fulfill their law enforcement or homeland security missions.
