FSA Federal president named to Virginia Business magazine’s Virginia 500 list

2020 Power List recognizes the state’s most influential business executives

ASHBURN, Va., September 3, 2020 — George B. Mendiola, Jr., president of government services provider FSA Federal, was selected by Virginia Business magazine for its Virginia 500 list of the most powerful executives in the state. Mendiola is on the list in the federal contractor category. Fewer than 40 executives across Virginia made the list in this category.

The magazine highlighted its 2020 Power List in a special issue published in September 2020. This first annual publication features a comprehensive look at the commonwealth’s most influential leaders across 30 sectors ranging from construction and development to law, technology, and finance.

“Virginia Business is thrilled to have leaders like George Mendiola in the commonwealth,” said Bernie Niemeier, publisher of the magazine. “We are delighted to highlight his contributions to his industry and community as an example that might inspire future generations of executive leadership.”

The editorial team compiled the list after eight months of research, including surveying business leaders and consulting economic development officials around Virginia.

Before joining FSA Federal in 2017, Mendiola served as Federal Civilian Group vice president at Engility Corporation, where he led all business aspects of the enterprise that drew $500 million in annual revenue. He has 20 years of progressive experience in strategic planning, organizational development, contracts management, proposal development, customer engagement, financial planning, and cost accounting compliance.

In addition to his business successes, Mendiola has prioritized community service across Virginia, as evidenced by the Young Alumnus Merit Award he earned from Radford University. He is the driving force behind Radford’s endowed Mendiola-Cole Leadership Scholarship. Mendiola served as a mentor to teens in Fairfax County’s BeFriend a Child Program and served as the honorary chair of the Radford Fund.
